The Healthy Heart Conviviality Project
Monthly online meetings in which we all (patients, doctors, and nurses) cook together and share a convivial space.
Project Vision:
To build a space of conviviality among patients, their family caregivers, doctors and nurses.
The journey into Advanced Heart Failure is very complex and requires profound changes in a person's and family's life. There are important processes of learning and transformation that empower the people involved into taking ownership of this new life with strength, conviction, and joy. How a person and family have transformed their everyday life by modifying loved family recipes or creating new ones to share moments of conviviality constitutes a beautiful human cultural and creative patrimony that we wish for participants to share in this space. Cooking and eating together and sharing moments of conviviality is therapeutic and, in many cultures, considered a fundamental part of people’s emotional and spiritual lives.
The Space of Conviviality:
It is a space for moments of inspiration and discussion of themes that come to light in the moment of shared conviviality.
Based on our vision, each person who is in charge of the evening (the “Head Chef”) will share with the others something that is very important in the family life through the creation of a new recipe or a modification of an old one. In doing so, we are eliciting a reflection from the person and family on their learning and transformation experience. Why this recipe? What did it mean to you? What does it mean to others in the family? What are the stories associated with this dish or the preparation of it?
Collecting these stories and moments of conviviality will provide important documentation of the richness and inspiring life of participants.
